Dr Jane Holland is a respected project leader with an impressive portfolio of successfully completed assignments and research knowledge. She enjoys a national reputation in accessing, interpreting and extracting the salient points form economic and social data. In addition to producing research, Jane is experienced in helping others to interpret the findings, assess options and use the intelligence to deliver action and change. Following a degree in Management Science and Business German at Hatfield Polytechnic, Jane was the first person to gain a PhD from the Hatfield Polytechnic Business School in 1989. She went on to British Gas Northern, working in the Corporate Planning division and gaining extensive experience in statistical modeling and forecasting, strategic planning and operational research. In 1994, Jane made the move to the Learning and Skills Sector, spending 3 years at Central England TEC, and a total of 7 years with the various bodies working in this field in Coventry and Warwickshire, finally leaving the Learning and Skills Council in 2003. Jane was one of the founding partners of Mercia Research & Strategy—a specialist skills and labour market research partnership, before branching out to form Plantagenet Consulting in 2007. She works as an Associate with GWE Research Ltd, Inspira Consulting Ltd and HOST Policy Research Ltd. In terms of technology, Jane is an experienced SPSS user, and is also familiar with Microsoft Office solutions (spreadsheets are a particular passion), including Publisher for website development. In addition, she uses Surveymonkey for online surveys, and Blog technology for promoting debate and feedback. In order to keep travel costs to a minimum and keep her carbon footprint under control, Jane also uses Skype where possible for interviews and conferencing. Computer facilities are protected by regular back ups and a secondary power source in case of electricity power cuts. In addition to being passionate about skills and learning issues, Jane is also keen on the rural life, goat sitting and running a very small flock of chickens, managing the One Acre Wood, and raising organic fruit and vegetables. |
